This scotch tasting I introduced some friends to Andrew Walls. Andrew toured us through the whiskies, deftly describing what we could expect to smell and taste, and also provided interesting tidbits of information about the distilleries. The Unknown 7th whisky was one Andrew mentioned at the end which turned into us capping the night with it.┬áTragically, I really can’t remember much about the taste of each of these except that the Aberlour 10 Year was a surprisingly good scotch for being $40 a bottle and the Unknown 7th was a “Big Girl” at a cask-strength 61.7% ABV. Something I do remember was my dad was (or seemed to be) liquored after two scotches and he yelled a lot in the car ride home. My soon-to-be father-in-law, on the other hand, maintained his regular demeanour the entire night but was suddenly – and quite uncharacteristically – animated upon arriving home. Seriously, there were arms flying everywhere. I blame the Big Girl.
