I picked up a bottle of James Eadie “Black Lion” Caol Ila 9yo after tasting it earlier this year.
Nose: A rich combination of sour, smoke, peat, and hints of rubber and salt.
Palate: A creamy mouthfeel as you uncover more sour, oily notes.
Finish: The sour leads you into a finish with a salty earthiness sprinkled with that hint of rubber that keeps calling me back for another taste.
Overall: An absolute killer expression from one of my favourite distilleries (so I may be a wee bit biased here).
